Koh Samui Beach

Role: Architect, Interior & Furniture Designer
Completed 2017

Overlooking Thong Krut National Marine Park, amongst a coconut grove, this project is a consciously developed retreat with just 21 suites and penthouses located in a thriving fishing village. Given the one-of-a-kind setting of The Beach Samui, it’s no surprise that Archer Humphryes made protecting the environment such a high priority. Choices made during the hotel’s design followed a simple philosophy: to make a sustainable, visually stunning and colonial-inspired property that would complement the beachfront’s natural beauty.

The outcome is a three-story edifice of Indonesian Sukabumi limestone and bronze, with panoramic glass windows, red lacquer doors, energy-efficient solar panels and naturally filtered water. Public areas at The Beach Samui also play up to the island’s laid-back loveliness. Isolated beachside cabanas provide a place for pure escapism, and the infinity pool, lit up by fibre-optic technology, is the place to be at sunset, a botanical fine dining restaurant and bar sourcing local organic ingredients within the lush vegetation is at the heart of the identity. Combining the best of modern design with the workmanship of traditional Thai arts to create a resort, which blends beautifully into an area of outstanding natural beauty. Oceanfront rooms, each have their own terraces, private outdoor tubs, and muscle-soothing rain showers. A yoga centre on the beach leave you spiritually prepared to explore Koh Samui’s natural wonders.

The Beach Samui is a multi-award winning resort having received the 2010 Bloomberg International Property Award and the 2013 Thailand Property Award for Best Interior Design.
